Mothers Day

My heart is with all mothers today- if you've loved a child, lost a child, wanted a child, given up a child, have dreams for your child, would sacrifice all for your child, had your heart filled and broken by a child, may you love and honor yourself today. All blessings to you, dear one.

Move that rock!

After I posted yesterday's painting, I got the unsettling feeling that the foreground rock overpowered the composition and blocked the viewer from comfortably entering into the painting. That's where posting in haste got me! Do you think this is better? It's good to see the problem, then be able to fix it!

Low Tide

When it's too windy for plein air, the next best thing is painting from the car.

Hills of Verona

A sunny afternoon as our trip comes to a close. Wanted to capture a sense of the rolling hills and Virginia countryside we've been enjoying on this RV adventure.

Another Look

In the studio long enough for another forsythia study, this one a more traditional approach. It was the shadows that interested me.

Forsythia Examined

This was going to be a quick little study but turned into something more as a close examination of how the change in perspective affected everything.  In other words, we can't take anything for granted but must keep looking. My shadows had to be lightened alot as well as the side of the vase. This is a preparation for a larger painting.
