Inspiration

While in Texas this winter, I got a chance to see the new installation of AUSTIN by Ellsworth Kelly. He gifted the design concept for this monumental work to the Blanton Museum and even though it was a cloudy day when I visited, the space was very moving and eerily like a chapel. In the museum were extensive paintings, drawings and plans for the installation which were incredibly fascinating. If you go to Austin, it's part of the permanent exhibit and not to be missed.

Mc Kinney Falls State Park

I painted this over the course of two afternoons looking at the trees in this amazing state park just outside of Austin. This was our campsite view for 4 nights!

From the Car

When I have art materials with me, I'm more apt to use them! This shouldn't be startling news and yet so often I am empty handed. Luckily I use my phone to take pictures but there's nothing like settling down and rendering an image.
That's what I did yesterday after dropping my husband off for a round of golf. I just stayed right in the parking lot, in the car, using the Prismacolor brush markers for these remarkable Oak trees that are everywhere along the coast of Texas.
