Have been thinking about this blog off and on, to continue or not. For some reason I keep coming back to it- a place of chronology, a timeline of what’s been going on, some highlights of the time since I last posted. Portrait of my Dad-lots of drawing in the winter has kept my hand in it while we travel.

Plum Beach Light
This lighthouse stands in Narragansett Bay in North Kingstown- built in 1899 and now on the National Register of Historic Places. It was deactivated after the first Jamestown bridge was built in 1941, and was sorely neglected until 1999 when the Friends of Plum Beach Lighthouse took over and totally restored it. Also, it is now licensed by the Coast Guard as a navigational aid. It has always caught my fancy, and it’s been depicted by many artists and photographers. This painting is 8x8 on a cradled panel.

Hand Picked
A new venture for me- I’ve decided to offer my art available as merchandise through Pixels-a company that prints on demand. Here’s the link to take you there- I’m very excited that more people who love my art will be able to own it! http://anne-winthropcordin.pixels.com
Here’s a painting titled Side By Side from the Take a Seat collection made into a big, beautiful beach bag!

No Expectations
Moonlight was painted without any reference, on a night I had watched the moon come up from my deck. Frustrated with some physical issues that have prevented me from painting plein air this summer, I just went into the studio without any plan.
Why not just push paint around? No expectations, no agenda.
Not how I usually work at all, but it worked without my having to try too hard.
Magic. Do you believe in magic? Let go and see what happens.

L’Heure Bleu (The Blue Hour)
The time of day when the sky turns this magnificent color is called “l’heure bleu” by the French. It was my mother’s favorite time of day and although she’s been gone for 15 years, I still think of her when the sky is this color.
I painted this from a dear friends post on IG- something that I never do, which is to paint from a photo source not my own. Never say never! The exquisite camellia came from her garden; she ended up falling in love and buying it before the paint was dry.
I love it when everyone’s happy.
