Anna Week 7

Only one class left...model was sitting high upon a dias...Catherine asked, "Where is this pose from?" I have loved this painting by Henri Matisse which is at the Boston Museum of Fine Art, so I recognized the setup. It was also the painting of the week on Powers of Observation, which I'm having trouble linking to. Sorry!

Open Figure 2nd Monday

Felt alot more comfortable working with charcoal this week at  the Open Figure Studio at the Portsmouth Arts Guild. I just want to focus on increasing my observational skills and keeping it simple seems to work best for me. Still see drawing problems...like that drooping guitar neck!! You noticed it, didn't you? We have a great group of people using mixed media and wonderful models too.Listened to bluesy guitar music.

Pastel Figure

Almost didn't post this, it's been so long since I've done anything from a model, but ...here we are. The pose was daunting with such exaggerated foreshortening, but I plowed onward. When I couldn't achieve the delicacy or strength, or really anything I liked, I thought, aha...color. So I went with it as far as I could, knowing I'll have another chance next Monday. Thank God for a sense of humor (about myself!)
