Deconstructed

I'm not sure why I'm feeling the need to change the way I'm painting, but somewhere is the feeling that I want to show things differently. I don't know exactly how to do this and admit experimentation and leaving whatever comfort zone I'm in is nerve wracking.
Which is okay.

Plein air painting in a lovely spot scraped down the next day, shapes unified and a three value structure applied.

Hmm, clarity comes next. Or maybe not.

  1. Both of these are really nice! Great colors in the first version. I'm really drawn to the second one - strong design, interesting abstract shapes!

  4. Anne, for many years I have thought that values is the way to go . But lately am trying to put down patches of paint instead and see how they relate to one another. Very different than drawing and also not like values. Hensche says it has to do with paradise and I think he might just be right. Best!

    1. I like the idea of paradise Liz! Color notes, as Catherine Kehoe at Mass Art always says.
